Biography

Anna Strand works as a lecturer in the bachelor program and international master's program in photography at the University of Gothenburg. Her artistic practice combines photography, text, and found materials. In recent years, her work has been presented in exhibitions and artist books, focusing on archives and collections, often with a private gaze that illuminates alternative narratives. She aims to visualize, emphasize, and transform perspectives through the construction and reconstruction of archives and collections. Her recent publication, Exposed Eye #2, a collaboration with artist Helga Härenstam, was published in 2024 by Sailor Press, adding to her previous works, including the Nagoya Notebook which won the Swedish Photobook Prize in 2014 and Archived T, recognized with Svensk Bokkonst in 2020. Her recent exhibitions have taken place at Alingsås Konsthall, Västerås Art Museum, Galleri Ping Pong in Malmö, and Galleri Cora Hillebrand in Gothenburg. She has also published texts related to her artistic practice in Sveriges Radio, VERK Journal, and Fotografisk Tidskrift.
