Anna Zumbansen received her clinical training in speech-language pathology in France and Canada. She began her research career specializing in voice disorders affecting both professional and amateur singers, as well as neurological communication disorders. Her doctoral thesis focused on singing rehabilitation in individuals with aphasia. She has taught and supervised students in speech-language pathology at universities in Canada and France. Anna joined the University of Ottawa in July 2020 and co-directed the Institute for Research in Music and Health in 2021. Her research interests include the health benefits of group singing, singers’ vocal health, discourse analysis, melodic intonation therapy, and non-invasive brain stimulation methods. Professor Zumbansen’s work examines the effectiveness of transcranial magnetic stimulation in language rehabilitation following a stroke.
