Biography

Annamaria Astrologo completed her university studies at the Faculty of Law of the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna, where she spent three years attending the Doctorate School in Law and Criminal Procedure. In 2006, she defended her doctoral thesis with an excellent evaluation. She has conducted various study and research stays at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. In 2018, she graduated with a Master of Advanced Studies in Economic Law and Business Crimes from SUPSI. Since 2018, she has been an Adjunct Professor of Swiss Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Insubria. Currently, Annamaria is a full professor at the Law Institute (IDUSI) and the scientific director of the Ticino Observatory on Organized Crime based at the Institute. Since 2023, she has been on the board of the Swiss Forum on Restorative Justice and since 2025 serves as Co-Vice President of the same forum. She is a member of the Equi-Lab committee and Swiss Women Lawyers. From September 2023, she is a member of the Academic Senate of USI, representing the Academic Senate on the University Council. Her research focuses primarily on economic criminal law, particularly money laundering and corruption offenses, as well as the criminal and social responsibility of enterprises. Her research also addresses issues of restorative justice, mediation, and 'soft law.'
