Biography

Annapaola Parrilli is a scientist at the Center for X-ray Analytics at Empa. She received her PhD in Biomaterials from the University of Pisa in Italy in 2015. Currently, she holds a scientific chair at the Interdisciplinary Panel of the Belgian Research Council (FWO) and has also served as a researcher at the IRCCS Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna, Italy. Her interdisciplinary research interests focus on 3D and 4D imaging, biomaterials, organ and tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and contrast agents for preclinical research. She has published more than 60 papers in the field of material characterization, reliability, biocompatibility, and translational research, particularly using micro-CT imaging. Dr. Parrilli is also involved in directing clinical translational research projects that benefit from strong collaborations with clinicians and clinical environments, ensuring that her work has direct applications in healthcare.
