Dr. Anne Gaelle Saliot

Biography

Anne-Gaëlle Saliot is an Associate Professor in the Department of Romance Studies at Duke University, where she has been teaching since 2018. She also serves as the Director of the Center for French and Francophone Studies. Saliot received her Ph.D. from the University of Oxford and began her academic career in French Studies in the United States after studying in France at Lycée Henri IV and the Sorbonne. Prior to her current role, she taught at the University of York and Johns Hopkins University. Her research interests include a focus on French cinema and literature, engaging deeply with the works of notable filmmakers and philosophers. Saliot's recent publications explore themes of hospitality and the interplay between film and literary aesthetics, particularly investigating the connections between Maurice Blanchot and Jean-Luc Godard. She has been awarded various grants for her research projects and is involved in multiple academic initiatives to promote the study of French and Francophone cultures.
