Biography

Anne-Marie Kermarrec is a Full Professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where she has been a known figure in the field of computer science since January 2020. She is also the CEO of the startup Mediego, which she founded in April 2015 to provide content personalization services to online publishers. Before her current position, Kermarrec worked as a Research Director at Inria, France, from 2004 to 2015. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Rennes in France, Vrije Universiteit in the Netherlands, and Microsoft Research in Cambridge, UK. Kermarrec has been awarded several notable grants and recognitions, including the European Research Council (ERC) grant in 2008 and Proof of Concept in 2013. She received the Montpetit Award in 2011, the Innovation Award from the French Academy of Sciences in 2017, and was elected to the European Academy in 2013. Additionally, she became an ACM Fellow in 2016. Her research interests encompass large-scale distributed systems, epidemic algorithms, peer-to-peer networks, and system support for machine learning.
