Biography

Anne-Marie Mes-Masson is a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Montreal, the scientific director of the Montreal Cancer Institute, and leads the Cancer axis at the CHUM Research Center. A pioneer in developing cancer models, she established the first ovarian cancer tumor biobank in the early 1990s, becoming a leader in the collection and preservation of biological samples from various tumor types. Interested in characterizing the molecular mechanisms involved in carcinogenesis, her team has uncovered mutations underlying hereditary forms of breast and ovarian cancers in the French-Canadian population. Mes-Masson has demonstrated strong leadership in large-scale research programs and currently leads a study at the Terry Fox Research Institute aimed at identifying clinically relevant biomarkers in ovarian cancer. Her work encompasses both the biology of ovarian cancer and hereditary cancers, as well as translational research for personalized medicine and the development of new treatments.
