Biography

Anne-Marie’s research focuses on communicating complex scientific public health information to a range of audiences. Her work is multidisciplinary, crossing fields such as epidemiology, toxicology, social marketing, and risk perception and assessment. Specific areas of focus include environmental and occupational exposures and their impact on health. She has worked with a number of agencies, including the Occupational Health Safety Association, Healthcare, and the National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health, as well as BC Centres for Disease Control. From 2007 to 2013, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia in the Schools of Environmental Health and Population and Public Health. Her research includes both qualitative and quantitative methods for intervention-based studies. Anne-Marie has designed innovative public occupational health awareness campaigns, such as the Wash Care program and the Bollywood-themed pesticide exposure program, Tick Talk, which is a multi-lingual tick education program for children. She is currently the Principal Investigator for the CAREX Canada project, Canada’s national carcinogen surveillance program, with a focus on translating knowledge about occupational and environmental carcinogens for policymakers and cancer prevention stakeholders across the country.
