Dr. Anne Alstott

Biography

Anne L. Alstott is the Jacquin D. Bierman Professor of Taxation at Yale Law School and holds a secondary appointment as a Professor at the Yale Child Study Center, alongside being a Faculty Affiliate of the Yale Institution for Social Policy Studies. A graduate of Yale Law School, where she earned her J.D. in 1987, and Georgetown University, with an A.B. in 1984, Professor Alstott's research focuses on public policy regarding children and families, as well as issues related to the life cycle of public policy. She is the author of several influential books, including 'Public Option' (co-authored with Ganesh Sitaraman), and 'New Deal Old Age,' among others. In addition to her prolific writing, which includes articles in prestigious law journals, she has engaged with broader media outlets like NPR and has made significant contributions to discussions surrounding transportation policy and gender-affirming care. Professor Alstott has received multiple teaching awards throughout her career, recognizing her excellence in education. She began her academic career at Columbia University School of Law before moving to Yale Law School, then to Harvard Law School, and returning to Yale. Throughout her career, she has explored the intersection of law, policy, and social issues, making her a key figure in contemporary legal discourse.
