Biography

Dr. Anne Berndl is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto and serves as the Director of the Accessible Care Pregnancy Clinic at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She specializes in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and is also an Associate Scientist at the Sunnybrook Research Institute. Her research endeavors focus on the implications of pregnancy in women with physical disabilities, with a particular emphasis on conditions such as spina bifida, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, and myasthenia gravis. Dr. Berndl's ongoing research is supported by a grant from the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation, which investigates the complexities of pregnancy in women with spinal cord injuries. Additionally, she chairs the American Spina Bifida Association Women’s Health Guideline committee and is the lead author of the SOGC guideline on Labour, Delivery, and Postpartum Care for People with Physical Disabilities.
