Biography

Anne Cormier is a professor in the School of Architecture at the Université de Montréal, where she also served as the director from 2007 to 2015. She is a founding member of the Atelier Big City, an architectural practice dedicated to developing innovative intervention strategies and exploring the potential of public space. Her research and creative work focus on social housing as a space for creation, innovation, and critique in Canadian city centers. Cormier has earned several prestigious awards, including the Prix de Rome from the Canada Council for the Arts. She has presented and exhibited her work both in Québec and internationally. An architect by training, she studied at McGill University and has taught at institutions such as Cornell University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the University of Toronto.
