Biography

Anne Davies is a Professor of Law and Public Policy and a Fellow at Brasenose College, University of Oxford. She completed her BA at Oxford, winning the Gibbs and Martin Wronker Prizes, followed by a D.Phil. her thesis examined the phenomenon of contractualization in the UK National Health Service from a public law perspective. Davies has authored and co-authored seven books and numerous articles, focusing on public law, particularly government contracts. Her notable publications include 'Accountability: Public Law Analysis of Government Contracts' (2001) and 'Public Law of Government Contracts' (2008), both published by Oxford University Press. In the field of labor and employment law, she has published five books, including 'Perspectives on Labor Law' (2004) and 'Human Rights at Work' (2024). She teaches Employment Law and Administrative Law to undergraduates and co-teaches BCL/M.Jur. courses in Human Rights Work and Advanced Administrative Law. Davies is involved in various scholarly boards, including the European Labour Law Journal and the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies. She was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2024 and serves as a non-executive member of the Board for the Parliamentary Health Service Ombudsman.
