Dr. Anne Kukuczka

Biography

Anne Kukuczka is a PhD researcher and lecturer at the Department of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies at the University of Zurich. She specializes in social anthropology with a focus on body, gender, and beauty. Her research interests include urban anthropology, social transformation processes, feminist research methods, and migration. Kukuczka has completed her BA in South Asian Studies at Humboldt University of Berlin and an MA in Social-Cultural Anthropology at Freie Universität Berlin. She has conducted study and research stays in the UK at the School of Oriental and African Studies, in China at Qinghua University, in Tibet at Tibet University in Lhasa, and in Nepal at Tribhuvan University. Her PhD project examines the everyday lifeworlds of urban Tibetan women, focusing on aesthetic self-making practices and the implications of modernity and femininity in their pursuit of a 'good life.'
