Anne Leis is a full professor and current head of the Department of Community Health & Epidemiology at the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. She holds a PhD in Health Psychology and an MSc in Clinical Child Psychology. Dr. Leis's research interests focus on cancer prevention, self-management of chronic diseases, and the impacts of minority status and culture on health. She co-led the Healthy Start-Départ Santé project, a bilingual community health intervention, which aimed to enhance physical activity and healthy eating among children in Francophone and Anglophone childcare centers in Saskatchewan and New-Brunswick. Her research has received funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. In 2012, she was awarded the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal for her exceptional community service. Dr. Leis has also been recognized as one of the ten influential persons in Francophone Canada by the Francophone Press.
