Biography

Anne Martin joined the Complexity Health Improvement Programme at the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit in November 2017. Her role involves evaluating and developing complex public health interventions. After completing her degrees in Germany, she moved to Glasgow in 2009 to obtain an M.Sc. in Human Nutrition, specializing in Obesity and Weight Management from the University of Glasgow. She completed her Ph.D. in Nutrition at the Exercise Sciences Institute, University of Edinburgh in 2014. Previously, she worked as a post-doctoral Research Associate at the University of Edinburgh’s Physical Activity Health Research Centre and Centre for Medical Informatics. Anne's research interests focus on the impact of nature-based childcare on the health and well-being of children, families, and communities, as well as enhancing parental perceptions of active outdoor play and intergenerational physical activities. She is currently leading intervention studies aimed at understanding and improving children's health through outdoor learning and reducing adolescents' night-time device usage. Anne has also been involved in several significant research projects, including the Early Childhood Education Outdoor Nature-based Play Learning initiative and the CLOCK study.
