Biography

Anne McMunn is a Social Epidemiologist specializing in the life course framework, with extensive experience in understanding health inequities. She co-directs Equalise, the ESRC Centre for Lifecourse Health Equity, and is a founding member of the ESRC International Centre for Life Course Studies. Between 2018 and 2023, she served as Head of the Research Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London (UCL). Anne has been a faculty member at UCL since 1998 and received her PhD from UCL in 2004, leveraging data from the MRC National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD) 1946 birth cohort study. Prior to her involvement with the ICLS, she contributed to the establishment of the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA) and was the lead for the Scottish Health Survey. Alongside her research, Anne holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Yemen from 1991 to 1994.
