Dr. Anne Meylan

Biography

Anne Meylan is a Full Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Zurich. Her research focuses on essential areas such as Epistemology, Metaethics, and Ethics, examining the nature of belief and rationality. She leads the Zurich Epistemology Group on Rationality (ZEGRA), exploring questions related to cognitive irrationality and the role of emotions in epistemic processes. Meylan has held various academic positions, including a tenure-track Assistant Professor role at the University of Zurich and a Swiss National Foundation professorship at the University of Basel. She has also engaged in visiting lecturer roles at institutions like the University of Neuchâtel, University of Toronto, University of Geneva, University of Lund, and University of Copenhagen. Meylan earned her PhD in philosophy from the University of Geneva. Her extensive teaching portfolio includes courses on Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, and Metaphysics, among others. In 2015, she completed her Habilitation in philosophy at the University of Fribourg, further establishing her academic credentials in theoretical philosophy.
