Biography

Anne Neal joined the Faculty of Business of the University of New Brunswick in Saint John in 2023 as a member of the Accounting area. Prior to joining UNB, she taught and facilitated technical accounting, business planning, finance, and ethics courses at Carleton University, Nipissing University, and Algonquin College in Ontario, Canada, as well as for the Chartered Professional Accounting Association. A member in good standing of the CPA since 2014, Anne first received her CMA designation in 2010. She has worked in various roles within functional accounting, administrative, and management in both industry and post-secondary education, which she incorporates into her teaching philosophy. Her research interests revolve around the social and cultural dimensions of accounting as both a profession and a practice. As a qualitative researcher, she is currently engaged in projects examining accounting standard setting, media portrayals of accountants during fraud scandals, and issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion in accounting research.
