Anne Maree Payne is a Senior Research Fellow in the Indigenous Land & Justice Research Group at the University of New South Wales, with significant professional experience in the field of human rights. She has a strong focus on applied research and real-world applications of historical studies. Her career includes notable contributions to public policy and exploration of community-based truth-telling in Australia, particularly through her commissioned reports and publications addressing the historical injustices faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In 2021, she published the book 'Stolen Motherhood: Aboriginal Mothers Child Removal Stolen Generations Era,' which examines the impact of governmental policies on Indigenous mothers.
