Biography

Anne Smith, MD, is a pediatric adolescent obstetrician-gynecologist who specializes in the care of young females from birth through adolescence. As an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine, she is passionate about women's reproductive rights and health. Dr. Smith was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after a family member was diagnosed with breast cancer. She treats a variety of conditions, including congenital abnormalities and provides contraceptive counseling. With experience in managing heavy menstrual periods and clotting disorders, she works specifically in the hematology gynecology clinic. Understanding that young girls may feel nervous or embarrassed during visits to a specialist, Dr. Smith prioritizes setting expectations to reassure them about necessary examinations. She completed her medical degree at Vanderbilt University, followed by an internship and residency at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and a fellowship at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
