Biography

Anne Thareau is a professor in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She holds a Licence ès lettres and Maîtrise ès lettres from Nantes, as well as a Doctorate from Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris IV, France. Her academic career has included significant leadership roles, such as serving as the Head of the Department of French & Spanish from 2010 to 2016 and directing the Canadian Year Nice programme in 2009–2010. Thareau has also directed the Frecker Institute in Saint-Pierre Miquelon from 2004 to 2009. Her research interests predominantly encompass French culture and translation, including English-French language interactions. Through her various roles, she has contributed to promoting and facilitating the study of language and culture.
