Dr. Anne Tietjen

Biography

Anne Tietjen is a Full Professor at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in Landscape Architecture Transformation. Her work bridges theory and practice at the intersection of landscape architecture, urban design, and planning. She focuses on the transformation of existing built environments and landscapes, emphasizing the politics and agency in designing sustainable urban and rural development to enhance quality of life for all beings. Anne's research is situated within relational spatial design and planning theory, particularly grounded in actor-network theory. She has conducted extensive research into strategic design planning, urban/rural public spaces, and design-based research methods. Anne is actively involved in collaborative transdisciplinary research efforts aimed at democratizing knowledge production through design-based tools. She is responsible for teaching the course Transformation Studio in the MSc Landscape Architecture program, working closely with local municipalities and communities to develop strategic landscape projects aimed at addressing challenges in shrinking rural areas. She has also held various academic and professional positions related to architecture and urban design over her career. Anne's current projects include studies on climate heritage futures and quality of life in peripheral rural areas, showcasing her commitment to strategic design research.
