Dr. Anne Walling

Biography

Dr. Anne M. Walling is a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and serves as the Director of the Palliative Care Research Center. Her work revolves around palliative care quality measurement and stakeholder-partnered implementation research to enhance care for patients with serious illnesses. Dr. Walling has been instrumental in developing quality measures endorsed by the National Quality Forum and has contributed to the integration of palliative care in national guidelines, particularly for end-stage liver disease. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and a grantee of the Sojourns Scholar Leadership Program supported by the Cambia Health Foundation. Her leadership extends to chairing the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Palliative Care Guidelines Committee. Dr. Walling has led both federal and non-federal grants, focusing on significant improvements in palliative care delivery. Her notable publications include several high-impact studies in JAMA Internal Medicine and the Journal of Clinical Oncology, highlighting her commitment to advancing supportive cancer care and improving patient outcomes in palliative settings.
