Biography

Annelie Gutke is an Associate Professor of Physiotherapy at the University of Gothenburg and leads research focused on women's health throughout the lifespan. Her work specifically investigates pain conditions associated with menstruation and pregnancy, as well as their impact on physical activity and overall health. Annelie heads the Women’s Health research group, currently focused on the etiology and treatment of pelvic pain during pregnancy and endometriosis. She completed her physiotherapy education at Karolinska Institutet in 1990 and defended her doctoral thesis at Linköping University in 2007. Her research has involved studying a cohort of 300 pregnant women to understand the occurrence of pelvic girdle pain and related factors, such as muscle function and depressive symptoms. In addition to her research, Annelie serves as the Deputy Head of the Section of Health Rehabilitation, overseeing both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy units, and is a member of the International Board of Physiotherapists for Women's Pelvic Health, as well as the Swedish board for Women’s Health Physiotherapy. Her teaching focuses on primary care in obstetrics, gynecology, and urology at both undergraduate and advanced levels.
