Biography

Annelies van Vianen obtained her MSc in Educational Psychology from the University of Leiden in 1977. In 1987, she earned her PhD and was appointed as a contract researcher and senior researcher in Work and Organizational Psychology at the University of Leiden. She later served as a project manager in the Department of Industrial Psychology at Dutch Post Telecom Company. In 1990, she joined the University of Amsterdam as a member of the Work and Organizational Psychology program and became a full professor in 2005. She has chaired the program group Work and Organizational Psychology and holds a special chair funded by the Dutch Psychotechnical Foundation. Annelies has served as an editor for the Dutch scientific journal Gedrag en Organisatie and has held positions on the editorial boards of various journals including Personnel Psychology and the International Journal of Selection and Assessment. She has authored or co-authored approximately 200 scientific articles and book chapters on topics such as person-organization fit, career development, and organizational justice. Her research interests encompass the interaction between individuals and their environments, focusing on how fit perceptions influence outcomes in organizational contexts. Current research projects include determinants of people's fit perceptions, self-regulation in the context of unemployment, and career coaching.
