Dr. Annette Freyberg Inan

Biography

Annette Freyberg-Inan is a Professor of International Relations Theory at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in International Relations and Political Science. Her research focuses on International Political Economy, European integration, and transitions in Central Eastern Europe, alongside themes such as political protest. She obtained her PhD from the University of Georgia, USA, in 1998. Since joining the University of Amsterdam in 2003, she has held various prestigious roles, including a visiting faculty fellowship at the Civic Education Project and a consultancy position with the United Nations. In addition to her academic positions, she has served as the dean of the Graduate School of Social Sciences and is actively involved in editorial work and professional associations related to International Studies. Freyberg-Inan has co-edited several impactful publications addressing different aspects of international relations, including the complexities of EU-Turkey relations and the importance of human elements in global politics. She is recognized for her commitment to international education and scholarship, providing insights on the virtues and challenges of higher education in a global context.
