Biography

Annette Tielle currently serves as an Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Texas at Austin in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy. She is a core faculty member in the University of Texas Cooperative Superintendency Program. Her extensive career in education includes roles as an elementary teacher, secondary teacher, reading specialist, and administrator, culminating in her position as the Superintendent of Del Valle Independent School District (ISD), where she earned the title of Superintendent Emeritus. Dr. Tielle has successfully led various bond initiatives, including a historic $284 million bond package in 2019 with a passing rate of 75%, and a subsequent $300 million bond in 2022 with a passing rate of 65%. Her leadership has resulted in significant infrastructure improvements and the enhancement of student learning through tailored curriculum and innovative educational models designed to close achievement gaps.
