Biography

Annick Pellegrin holds a Ph.D. in French Studies and Spanish Latin American Studies from the University of Sydney, which she completed in 2014. She previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Languages with four majors including French, Spanish, and Italian Linguistics from the same university, graduating with honors in 2009. Her research primarily focuses on comics, with a particular interest in Franco-Belgian, Mexican, and Argentinian comics. Pellegrin's work examines not only the content of comics but also the context of their creation and reception in national and cultural histories. She serves as an editor for Comics Forum and is a member of the editorial board for Studies in Comics. Her teaching and research interests encompass Bandes dessinées (Franco-Belgian comics), historietas (Mexican and Argentinian), coloniality, decolonial thought, representations of Latin America, nationalism and international relations, gender representations, and comic authors' rights. Pellegrin has co-edited a special issue of the Journal Iberian Latin American Research and authored several articles and book chapters addressing topics such as masculinity in Mexican comics and the narrative role of French comics in historical contexts.
