Biography

Annie Hsiao holds a Doctor of Music degree in Piano Performance Pedagogy from Northwestern University. Her research includes rhythmic analysis of Russian piano etudes, flexibility in tempo rubato, and Lisztian piano technique. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in piano performance, alongside a master's degree in music theory from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Throughout her academic career, Hsiao has received numerous awards, including the University Library Award, Teaching Excellence Award, and Piano Division Achievement Award. She studied under prominent pedagogues Kenneth Drake, David Kaiserman, and Alan Chow, and has performed recitals and participated in numerous piano competitions. Currently, she teaches private group lessons and keyboard skills classes at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University.
