Dr. Annie Janvier

Biography

Annie Janvier is a neonatologist and clinical ethicist at CHU Sainte-Justine and a full professor in pediatrics and clinical ethics at the University of Montreal. She holds a doctorate in bioethics and co-directs master's and doctoral programs in clinical ethics. Throughout her career, Janvier has engaged with vulnerable families, often assisting those who face difficult decisions regarding their children's care. Her personal experiences, as a daughter of patients, a patient, and a mother of patients, inspire her work and enrich her research. Her primary research interests include communication between clinicians and families, partnership models in care and research, and decision-making for vulnerable newborns. She focuses on enhancing pediatric care quality and family engagement through her clinical and research projects. Janvier has authored numerous publications and comments on clinical ethics, aiming to translate research insights into actionable recommendations for healthcare practices. She advocates for the inclusion of families in all aspects of research and education, emphasizing their role as co-researchers in clinical contexts.
