Biography

Annie Webster is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, where she focuses on contemporary Arabic literature and culture, particularly in relation to themes of conflict and forced migration. Her current research project, 'Stories of Syrian New Scots: Resettlement Geographies of Refugee Arts', investigates the creative practices of Syrian refugees in Scotland. Prior to her current role, she completed her PhD in Cultural, Literary and Postcolonial Studies at SOAS, University of London, supported by the Wolfson Foundation. Webster also holds an MSc in Arab World Studies from the University of Edinburgh and a BA in English and Related Literature from the University of York. She has held postdoctoral fellowships at the Institute of Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Edinburgh and the School of Advanced Study, University of London. Her teaching experience includes positions at the University of Cambridge, King's College London, and SOAS. Webster's research output has been published in various academic journals, and she is currently developing a research monograph that further explores the intersection of Arabic cultural studies, refugee studies, and environmental humanities.
