Dr. Annika Björkdahl

Biography

Annika Björkdahl is a Professor at Lund University in the Department of Political Science. Her research focuses on international local peacebuilding, with a particular emphasis on urban peacebuilding, gender, and transitional justice. She is currently directing four research projects that explore women's narratives of war, the vulnerabilities of urban environments, and the complexities of peace and memory in conflict zones. Björkdahl has published extensively in the field, including the monograph 'Peacebuilding as Spatial Transformation', and has co-edited significant volumes on the intersections of peace and place. She serves as the editor-in-chief of the journal 'Cooperation and Conflict', and her expertise is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Björkdahl's academic contributions include numerous articles in prominent journals and presentations on her research at various conferences.
