Biography

Annika Orich received her PhD in German with a Designated Emphasis in Film Studies from the University of California, Berkeley in 2017. Her research and teaching interests encompass 20th and 21st-century German literature, film, and culture, focusing on the intersections of science and art, debates on multiculturalism and migration, discourses on memory and identity, and questions of humor. She has obtained degrees from the University of Calgary and the European University Viadrina and has taught German language classes at the Freie Universität Berlin International Summer University. Additionally, Annika is a member of the Communications Committee Board of the Canadian Association of University Teachers in German and has worked as an editorial assistant for Seminar: A Journal of Germanic Studies. She is currently engaged in a book project that explores how reproductive processes in biology and the arts evoke similar cultural anxieties in German cultural studies.
