Biography

Annika Suominen is an Associate Professor of Criminal Law at Stockholm University, Sweden. She holds an LLM in law from the University of Helsinki, Finland (2006) and a PhD in Law from the University of Bergen, Norway (2011). Before her current position, she worked at the University of Helsinki for one year and spent ten years at the University of Bergen where she served as a PhD candidate and postdoctoral research fellow from 2015-2017. Her research interests focus on EU criminal law, the procedural aspects of the general part of criminal law, and immigration law. She has extensive teaching experience, covering subjects such as Norwegian criminal law, Swedish criminal law, EU criminal law, constitutional and human rights law, as well as health law. Annika has published works in her area of research and has participated in various research projects, including projects concerning Nordic and European criminal law. She is also a member of several professional organizations including the European Criminal Policy Initiative and has contributed to many publications related to the field.
