Anning Jing received his Ph.D. degree in Chinese art from Princeton University in 1994 and has been teaching Asian art in the Department of Art and Art History at Michigan State University since 1995. His current research interests focus on six interrelated areas: Daoist art, artworks of popular culture, murals from the Shanxi area, Buddhist art of the Yuan Dynasty, artistic cultural connections between China, India, Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, and Chinese landscape painting. His work addresses significant aspects of Chinese art that have received valuable scholarly attention, while also highlighting popular subjects that require further investigation from fresh perspectives.
