Biography

Anotida Madzvamuse is a Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of British Columbia since October 2022. Prior to that, he served as an Assistant Professor and later as an Associate Professor at the University of Sussex from 2006 to 2022. He also held an Assistant Professor position at Auburn University from 2003 to 2006. Madzvamuse was an EPSRC fellow at the University of Oxford from 2000 to 2003. He obtained his DPhil in 2000 and MSc in 1997 in Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis. His undergraduate degree, a BSc Hons, was awarded by the University of Zimbabwe in 1994. He is passionate about teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels and supervises research projects in theoretical computational biology. His research interests lie at the interface of fundamental disciplines, including mathematics, numerical analysis, physics, and scientific computing, as applied to experimental sciences such as developmental and cell biology as well as biomedicine. His work includes developing, analyzing, and simulating new mathematical computational approaches to understand complex biological processes.
