Biography

Anouk Beniest is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology and Geochemistry at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She holds a PhD in Earth Sciences from Universite Pierre et Marie Curie, where she conducted research focused on continental rifting and conjugate margins through both analogue and numerical modeling. Anouk's research interests include Plate Tectonics, Geodynamics, Rift Systems, Subduction Zones, Structural Geology, Analogue Modelling, and Numerical Modelling. With a master's degree from the same university, she further specialized in structural seismic interpretation of the Northern Aegean Basins. Anouk has also earned a master's and a bachelor's degree from Utrecht University, focusing on the evolution of the Adria-Europe collisional zone and paleomagnetic studies respectively. Outside of her academic roles, she serves as a board member for the initiative 'Samen naar de Kliniek' since December 2021. Through her work, she contributes to the understanding of sustainable development goals related to the Earth Sciences and actively collaborates with various research projects.
