Dr. Anouk Bomers

Biography

Anouk Bomers is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Twente. Her research focuses on improving computational efficiency in complex hydraulic river models, enhancing the accuracy of model predictions through novel calibration methods, and developing surrogate modeling techniques. With a PhD concentrated on reconstructing historic flood events in the Rhine River, she has successfully extended datasets of measured discharges to 600 years, aiming to refine the design of flood defenses. Her current role involves creating efficient data-driven surrogate models that can replace intricate hydraulic models utilized in real-time flood forecasting systems.
