Biography

Anouk Keizer works as an assistant professor in the Department of Experimental Psychology at Utrecht University, affiliated with the Dijkermanlab and the Helmholtz Institute Utrecht Research Group on Eating Disorders. Her research interests focus on the role of (affective) touch perception and the influence of touch on mental health. She investigates how healthy individuals and psychiatric patients experience and perceive their own bodies, including bodily dimensions that contribute to perception and experience of the environment. With a PhD thesis centered on disturbed body size experience in patients with anorexia nervosa, Keizer explores the levels of perception, action, and bodily illusions. Her current research aims to utilize novel innovative paradigms and technologies to study body image disturbances, with a strong focus on translating scientific findings into clinical practice.
