Biography

Anouk Rijs is a Full Professor in the Analytics Biomolecular Interactions Division at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her research is focused on the development and application of novel multidimensional analytics, including mass spectrometry and chromatographic techniques. Rijs's group investigates biomolecular interactions, drug characteristics, and biological chemical processes through molecular spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The team has gained recognition for its work on peptide and protein aggregation, which relates to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s. Rijs holds a VICI grant aimed at developing unique IR-MS based technologies to measure temporal evolution in these aggregation processes. Additionally, she has held visiting professor positions and has served as Chair of various academic organizations and symposiums.
