Biography

Ansgar Walther is a Professor of Financial Economics at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and an Associate Member of Nuffield College. His research focuses on various topics including financial crises, regulation, the role of imperfect information in finance, and the impact of machine learning and artificial intelligence on financial markets. Ansgar is a member of the Finance Theory Group at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and serves on the editorial boards of the Review of Economic Studies and the Review of Finance. His work on AI and machine learning in finance has received international recognition and led to the support of a current European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). He has extensive experience in academia and has worked in executive education and consulting for central banks, banking institutions, and hedge funds. Ansgar holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge.
