Dr. Antara Haldar

Biography

Antara Haldar holds the inaugural position of Empirical Legal Studies at the University of Cambridge, where she is tenured in the Faculty of Law. She teaches courses on law, economics, and philosophy, and also holds appointments in the Faculty of Philosophy and the Judge Business School. She is a Governing Body Fellow at Peterhouse, the oldest college in Cambridge. Currently on academic leave, she is a Fellow at Stanford University and has been a Faculty Visitor at Harvard University. Haldar has held senior roles at Cambridge, including Deputy Director of the LLM program and a member of various committees. She holds degrees in law and economics from prestigious institutions, including Trinity College, Columbia University, and the University of Delhi. With a strong interdisciplinary approach, her research focuses on law and development, microfinance, property rights, and the informal/formal law relationship. Haldar has received numerous awards, including the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Trust Award and the European Commission’s Marie Curie Award. Her work is widely published, and she is frequently invited to speak worldwide, engaging in rethinking economics and advising various prestigious organizations.
