Biography

Dr. Anthony Bailey is the Professor Chair of Child Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia, a position he has held since July 2010. Prior to joining UBC, he was the Cheryl and Reece Scott Chair of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford, an esteemed medical chair focused on the study of autism. His research primarily investigates the neurobiological basis of autistic disorders through genetic, neuropathological, and neuroimaging approaches. In Canada, Dr. Bailey coordinated the International Molecular Genetic Study of Autism Consortium, uniting an international team of clinicians and scientists to identify susceptibility genes linked to autism. While at Oxford, he established the Magnetoencephalographic Centre, designed to study autism and neurodevelopmental disorders by investigating the neural basis of language and face processing in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). His current clinical work is dedicated to adolescents and young adults affected by ASD. Additionally, Dr. Bailey founded the Autism Research journal for the International Society of Autism Research and served as Editor-in-Chief since 2015.
