Dr. Anthony Bain joined the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Windsor in the summer of 2018. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, Kelowna, and has both M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees from the University of Ottawa. Prior to his appointment at Windsor, Dr. Bain completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado, Boulder, working in the Integrative Vascular Biology Laboratory. His current research interests are focused on the integrative aspects of human cardiovascular and cerebrovascular function in health and disease, particularly the vascular endothelial function under extreme environmental conditions. A significant aim of Dr. Bain’s research program is to identify the mechanisms responsible for vascular endothelial dysfunction that lead to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events, recognized as leading causes of death globally. Furthermore, Dr. Bain's work examines how peripheral and cerebral vasculature adapt to severe environmental stressors, such as heat stress and hypoxemia, drawing insights from studies involving high-altitude natives (Andeans) and professional free-divers in Croatia.
Includes Mechanical, Automotive, and Materials Engineering streams.
