Anthony S. Chen is a political historical sociologist whose research focuses on American political development and public policy, particularly during the New Deal era. His work examines civil rights, social policy, and business-government relations. Chen is the author of 'Fifth Freedom' (Princeton University Press, 2009), which provides a new account of affirmative action and its emergence in employment.
