Dr. Anthony Cooper

Biography

Anthony Cooper is a lecturer at Erasmus University College within the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. His primary expertise lies at the intersection of Political Geography, International Relations, and International Political Sociology. His research focuses on political bordering and representations of borders, especially in relation to how these concepts are contested in contemporary society and their implications for international politics. He is particularly interested in the question of 'who borders' and the various ways in which citizens and non-citizens engage in the creation and re-creation of borders from a bottom-up perspective. Currently, he is investigating mainstream understandings of political borders in the context of rapid anthropocentric climate change. At Erasmus University College, Cooper teaches courses such as Understanding Politics, International Relations, Conflict Resolution, and Global Governance, along with qualitative research methods and academic research skills.
