Anthony David graduated in medicine from Glasgow University in 1980 and trained in neurology before entering psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital in London. He obtained a Master's degree in Cognitive Neuropsychology and served as an honorary consultant at the Maudsley from 1990 to 2018, being awarded a personal chair at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London in 1996. He has been active in numerous psychological societies, serving as the President of the International Neuropsychiatric Association from 2022 to 2024.
