Biography

Anthony Ewing counsels leaders in the private and non-profit sectors on business, human rights, and corporate responsibility. His writing and research focus on corporate responsibility with respect to human rights. Ewing’s publications include 'Teaching Business Human Rights' (editor, Elgar, 2023); 'Mandatory Human Rights Reporting' in 'Business and Human Rights: Principles and Practice' (Routledge, 2016); and 'Establishing State Responsibility for Private Acts of Violence Against Women under the American Convention on Human Rights' in the Columbia Human Rights Law Review (1995). He co-founded the Teaching Business Human Rights Forum, a platform for collaboration among teachers worldwide, and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Business and Human Rights Journal. As a Senior Associate at Shift, Anthony works with governments and business enterprises to implement the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. He has also served as Chief Operating Officer at Shift and has advised clients in sectors including healthcare, technology, financial services, energy, and manufacturing. Ewing has held senior advisory roles at Logos Consulting Group and has worked with various international organizations. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Human Rights Law Review, and his B.A. from Yale University.
