Dr. Anthony Kovscek

Biography

Anthony Kovscek is the Keleen Carlton Beal Professor of Petroleum Engineering and a Senior Fellow at the Precourt Institute for Energy at Stanford University. His career spans extensive academic and professional contributions to the fields of petroleum engineering and energy science. Kovscek has held several positions at Stanford, including Chair of Energy Resources Engineering and Associate Professor. His honors include being elected a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and receiving multiple awards from the Society of Petroleum Engineers for his contributions to the field. His research focuses on advanced imaging techniques and the modeling of complex multiphase flows in porous media, crucial for applications in carbon storage and enhanced oil recovery. He also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on energy use, renewable resources, and environmental issues, reflecting his commitment to educating students about the energy challenges of the 21st century.
