Biography

Anthony T. Marasco is a composer, sound artist, and instrument designer influenced by the aesthetics of today’s Digimodernist culture. His music installations showcase emerging technologies, highlighting creative flexibility by combining interactive sensor systems, cyber-hacked circuit-bent hardware, modular synthesizers, and tabletop sound computers. An avid builder and programmer, Marasco creates electronic augmented instruments and reactive generative audiovisual software. He is an internationally recognized artist whose works have been featured at various prestigious events, including the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS) conference and the Toronto International Electroacoustic Symposium. Marasco has won numerous accolades, including the grand prize at the 2013 UnCaged Toy Piano Festival and the Emerging Scholar award from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's College of Fine Arts. His research focuses on developing collaborative networked performance tools for electroacoustic music. He is a co-developer of Collab-Hub, a framework for remote performers to share control of virtual and tangible instruments via the internet, and the Bendit_I/O framework, which integrates old devices with new realities for telematic network art.
